Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency changes hours for winter

Posted: Updated:

The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency yard waste, compost, shingle recycling and recycling facility will begin their winter hours on Nov. 28.

Located on 2250 A Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids, the facility will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. The facility will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Winter hours are being used because customer traffic slows down significantly at the site during winter, the facility said.

Operations at 1954 County Home Road, Marion, where the landfill, Resource Recovery building and hazardous material collection are located will not be affected. Regular business hours remain in effect at that location, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Saturday.

The Solid Waste Agency will announce the return to regular hours in the spring.

Free wood chips from the Solid Waste Agency will be given away starting Nov. 28. The wood chips normally are $40.00 per ton, but the Agency will give away its 2016 supply until they are gone.
