Authorities in Jackson County, reaching out to the public about this man who broke into Briggs Elementary School.

These surveillance images show him in the hallway, even crawling on his knees through a classroom.

Parents, staff and administrators taking this break-in personally. "Some people think of it as something that was done to a building, when actually we see it as something that was done to 350 students and staff members," said Chris Hoover, the district's superintendent.

It was last Wednesday, four o'clock in the morning so no one was around.

The attempted robber setting off the school's motion alarms. He didn't get a chance to steal anything from the school. Just as police were arriving, he left behind the things he was planning to steal.

"There were a couple money bags and a money box that they had in their hands at the time, but when they found out the police were arriving they dropped everything and got out the window," said Hoover.

The suspect getting away by just seconds.

Nearly a week later, authorities releasing more images of the possible suspect. He's shown with a woman entering an area business the same day of the school's break in. He also appears to be wearing the same clothes.

Superintendent Hoover tells KWWL News they pride themselves on the safety and security of students. so, they really want this guy to be found. 

The Maquoketa Police Department has received calls about the man caught on the school's security cameras, but they're still trying to identify who he is. Anyone with information is asked to contact them.

The Maquoketa Police Department is looking for a man who broke into Briggs Elementary School.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department shared photos of the man, who they say triggered a motion alarm when he broke in.
It happened around 4:00 a.m. on November 16th. By the time officers arrived, the man was gone.
Investigators say the poured over the surveillance video and it was only one person inside the building.
