Police investigate stabbing in Dubuque, woman arrested

A man in Dubuque is stabbed several times early Monday morning.

Police were called to a home on the 1800 block of White street for a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, officers could hear arguing and threats being made inside the home, however no one would answer the door, an officer kicked in the door.

Once inside, they say a man was restraining his wife by holding her arms.

Vanessa E. Tillman-Johnson, 42, had a knife in one hand and a bottle in the other.

Matthew L. Johnson, 40, told police Tillman-Johnson stabbed him several times. He had wounds on back and forearm, also two cuts on his head.

Johnson was taken to Finley Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Tillman-Johnson has been arrested. She is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the intent to inflict a serious injury upon another or while displaying a dangerous weapon.

She is currently being held on a $7,500 bond.
