Posted: Updated:

The Rebels of Gladbrook-Reinbeck are the Iowa Class A State high school football champions for a second straight year.

The Rebels had to fight back from an early 13-0 deficit to beat previously undefeated Algona Bishop Garrigan, 20-19 in the UNI Dome.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck battled back, after fumbling on the Bishop Garrigan one-yard line on the opening drive and having a touchdown called back on an offensive pass interference penalty.

It was tight the entire game. G-R led at half, 14-13, but Bishop Garrigan battled back to take a 19-14 lead.

The Rebels scored the winning touchdown in the 4th quarter to secure back to back state titles. Game highlights on the KWWL News at 6 & 10.
