Iowa City police are investigating an armed robbery.

It happened Monday night shortly after 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot of 625 S. Gilbert Street.

Police say a man jumped out of a tan minivan and approached a woman. Officers say he pointed a handgun in her direction and told her to give him money.

When the woman said she didn't have any money, the man jumped back into the minivan, which drove off.

The woman was not hurt. Police were not able to find the van.

The suspect is described as a college-aged white male, approximately 5’8" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black basketball shorts.
