A WIND ADVISORY remains in effect this morning with wind gusts to 40 or 45 mph from the northwest. As the storm moves away from Iowa Saturday, the wind gusts diminish to 30 mph from the northwest. Finally by Saturday evening the wind really lightens up to around 10-15 mph.
The strong winds will not help how cold it will feel today. This is coat weather with high temperatures in the mid 30s and a few low 40s south of I-80. It won't feel any warmer than the mid 20s once you factor in the winds (even after they calm later today). The sun will return today as the storm system and strong cold front move farther away from eastern Iowa. High pressure settles in for the weekend so it will be calm.
The cold continues into tonight. Low temperatures won't have far to go tonight since we'll be much colder today. Overnight, lows will fall into the teens and a few low 20s. Sunday will feel a lot better, though the temperatures won't be too different. The biggest change will be significantly less wind tomorrow.
