UPDATE WITH NAME: 19-year-old dies in Waterloo shooting

UPDATE:  Waterloo Police say 19-year-old Talasa Wright died after being shot in Waterloo on Friday.

The Waterloo Police Department received multiple reports of shots being fired in the general area of E. 4th St and Newell around 11 p.m. A few minutes later, they learned a 19-year-old had been shot at the intersection of Linn St and Gable.

Wright was transported to Unity Point Hospital for treatment of her injuries.  She was subsequently transported to University of Iowa Hospitals due to the severity of her injuries.  Wright later died.

A 19-year-old girl dies after a Friday night shooting.

The teen was shot at the intersection of Linn St and Gable after 11 p.m.

The Waterloo Police Department received multiple reports of shots being fired in the general area of E. 4th St and Newell.

The teen was transported to Unity Point Hospital for treatment of her injuries.  She was then transported to University of Iowa Hospitals due to the severity of her injuries. The teen later died.

The identity of the victim will be released on Sunday after an autopsy is complete, Waterloo Police said.
