Police investigate armed robbery at Dubuque convenience store

UPDATE: Late Friday night, police respond to this Oky-Doky Foods in Dubuque for an armed robbery.

It happened just after ten o'clock on the 500 block of Hill Street.

The robber caught on the convenience store's surveillance cameras and he seems to be aware of it.

You can see -- he's covering up his face with his hand.

Police tell KWWL the man lifted up his shirt and displayed what the clerk believed to be a handgun.

He demanded cash, and the clerk handed it over.

The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money...

Then took off on foot westbound on west 5th street.

This is the second time in less than a year that this has happened to an Oky-Doky in Dubuque. Another store located on 1st Street was also robbed back in March. The owner says he doesn't think they're being targeted.

But he does say this situation is unsettling, and incidents like this are bad for the industry and the Dubuque community. 

He's hoping the robber will be caught.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 ft. tall, with a thick build. He was wearing grey sweats and a grey and orange baseball cap.

Dubuque Police are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store. 

It happened Friday night at the Oky-Doky on the 500 block of Hill Street just after 10 o'clock.

According to police, a man came into the store and demanded cash. He lifted his shirt displaying what the clerk believed to be a handgun.

The suspect was last seen walking westbound on West 5th Street.

Right now, authorities not releasing how much money he got away with. 

The suspect is described as a white male, 6'1" tall, thick build, wearing grey sweats, and a grey and orange ball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
