Iowans react to Trump's Historic Win

As the world learns of the selection, people here in eastern Iowa have a range of reactions to the news of Trump's victory today.

Stacy Wilson of Cedar Falls saying, "In the back of my head I thought there was no way this could happen...and then for some reason when I heard this morning, I wasn't that surprised."

The  morning starting with either celebration or disappointment for many.

22-year-old Nyakem Lieth says, "I wasn't surprised but I was disappointed. How could people actually believe or agree with what he represents? "

She says his words have hurt.

"I am a double minority being a black woman and his tactics really targeted minorities and it was just heartbreaking," Lieth says.

However, some say Trump represents change and will be good in the White House.

"It isn't what a man says that marks him..it's what he does," David Helm of Waterloo says.

Although shocked, many Iowans staying optimistic.

"I looked outside and it's a beautiful day today and I don't want my day ruined by the fact that I may or may not be happy with the outcome of the election so I am just trying to take it as it comes," Wilson says.
