Absentee Balloting in Winneshiek County

The Winneshiek County Auditor's office continues to offer absentee balloting for Tuesday's election.

At last check on Saturday, 2,395 Democrats voted absentee, 2,064 Republicans voted absentee, and 1,842 people with no party affiliation voted absentee.

Election workers say 6,301 absentee ballots were mailed out this election cycle, and so far 5,967 ballots were returned.

That means more than 300 absentee ballots have not yet been returned.

If you are one those nearly people, the County Auditor reminds you to postmark your ballot by no later than Monday November 7, or it can be delivered to the Auditor's Office no later than 9:00 p.m. November 8.

The County Auditor confirms there were 5,884 absentee ballots cast in the 2012 Presidential Race.

So, this year will set a new record for absentee ballots in Winneshiek County.

Absentee voting will continue through Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Voters can cast their ballots in person at their regular polling locations Tuesday November 8 from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

New voters and address changes will require additional documentation, which may include identification and proof of residency.
