Iowa City Hospice offers special camp

Posted: Updated:

Iowa City Hospice will present Kamp Kaleidoscope on January 28, 2017, in Iowa City.

Kamp Kaleidoscope is a one day camp designed to provide support and education to grieving school aged students.

The goal of Kamp Kaleidoscope is to help children understand more about grief and to normalize their feelings in a caring, supportive atmosphere.  The camp will offer participants the opportunity to share how they feel among others who have experienced a similar loss.

There will be a variety of activities throughout the day including small group discussions, music, memory making as well as a closing ceremony that will include family members. Kamp Kaleidoscope will be facilitated by Iowa City Hospice bereavement counselors and trained volunteers.

The camp will be held on Saturday, January 28, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at River Community Church, 3001 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City.  Registration is required.  Contact Julie Bockenstedt at 319-351-5665 or for more information or to register.

Iowa City Hospice is a community-based not-for-profit organization that offers care to patients, families and their loved ones throughout the dying and grieving processes. Grief support services, including this camp, are available, free of charge, to anyone who resides in the seven-county service area of Johnson, Cedar, Iowa, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine and Washington Counties. The person who died need not have been an Iowa City Hospice patient.
