Company sells donuts to raise money for murdered officers' families

Hurts Donuts in Coralville is showing their support for the two officers who were killed in Des Moines and Urbandale by selling donuts. 

They are selling "Thin Blue Line" donuts for $3 a piece. All the money raised from these donut sales will be donated to the victims' families. 

By yesterday afternoon, people were lining up out the door. 

In a post on Facebook yesterday, the company said they sold 1,350 thin blue line donuts in just under 7 hours.

Donut community of Iowa- Our hearts are broken this morning as we learn about the events that took place in Des Moines early this morning. One Des Moines police officer and one Urbandale police office were tragically killed on duty. We support the men and women who help keep us and our community safe. To show our support we will be selling THIN BLUE LINE donuts to raise money for the the victims of this tragic incident for the next 48 hours. They will be available for purchase starting at noon today, for $3 a piece. 100% of the proceeds will be donated. Please LIKE, COMMENT, and SHARE to help us spread the word and show your support. We stand together in Iowa, and together we will help each other through this. Thank a police officer today
