Two reports of shots fired in Dubuque over weekend

Posted: Updated:

Police in Dubuque say they responded to separate reports of shots fired at nearly the same time early yesterday morning.

According to police, the first report came from the 500 block of Almond Street around 4 a.m. Sunday. As officers arrived, they say several people were running from the area, while others sped away in cars. Police believe a fight between two women at the location gave way to a man allegedly firing several rounds into the air while standing in the street. Police don't believe anyone was hurt during the shots fired, however a 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, and other charges.

Around the same time, officers in the area of 13th and Jackson Streets heard the shots fired on Almond Street, and say they then heard another gunshot ring out near them. No injuries were reported from the shot, but the officers say they were the intended target of the secondary gunfire.

An investigation into both shots fired incidents continues today.
