(KWWL) -

Waterloo Police, fire fighters, and first responders were called to Thompson Avenue and Franklin around 6:58 p.m. Saturday.

When KWWL arrived, police appeared to be talking to a witness and the person who was riding the bike.

According to Waterloo Police, the 14-year-old cyclist was riding down the sidewalk and tried to cross the Franklin-Thompson intersection.

That's when the driver of a car hit him.

According to a witness, the driver appeared to be in a blue-like color Chevrolet Impala.

Waterloo Police are not confirming that information at this point.

Police say the teen had minor bumps and scrapes and appears to be OK.

However, his bicycle did appear to be damaged.

If you have any information about the driver, please call police.

As a reminder going into Halloween weekend, use extra caution if you're walking, biking and driving.

Please stay tuned as this story develops.
