Fight for Legislature runs from Apple Valley to Owatonna

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (AP) -

All of Minnesota's 201 legislators are on the ballot on Election Day, but the fight for control of the Legislature won't be spread evenly across the state.

The fight is taking shape in suburbs like Apple Valley, one of several Republican-held districts that Democrats are targeting in their quest to win back control of the House.

In the Senate, a Republican challenger's campaign to defeat the incumbent Democrat in rural southeastern Minnesota will be pivotal for the GOP.

Democratic House candidate Erin Maye Quade says she's undaunted by all the outside attention to her Apple Valley race. Her Republican opponent, Ali Jimenez-Hopper, says focus is keeping her going.

Democrats need to win seven seats to regain control of the House. Republicans need six seats to win control of the Senate.
