Community Forum: "Reaching for Respect - Our Police, Our Partners"

To continue to bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement, a unique forum too place in Waterloo on Thursday night.

It's called: "Reaching for Respect - Our Police, Our Partners" and its goal is to open conversation between the community and police officers.  Community members took to the stage to act out various situational vignettes about arresting situations and compliance. 

Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart told KWWL, "Courageous conversations and honesty are the drivers for community betterment. When we engage, when we work together, we will move forward together at amazing speeds for change.  It's about reaching for respect."

Thursday's forum was presented and sponsored by Waterloo Commission on Human Rights, Waterloo and Cedar Falls Police Departments, the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol.
