Grandmother sues over half-full bucket of chicken

Posted: Updated:

A New York grandmother is suing KFC for $20 million.  She claims the chain is committing false advertising by showing pictures of "buckets full of chicken" on its ads.

64-year-old Ann Wurtburger says she paid $20 for a bucket of chicken from KFC this summer.  When she got home, Wurtzburger says she was shocked to see the bucket was not full - it was half empty.

KFC offered her $70 worth of gift certificates but Wurtzburger says she sent them back. The company said that a bucket is only meant to contain eight pieces of chicken.  KFC calls the suit "meritless."

"I came home and said, 'Where's the chicken?' I thought I was going to have a couple of meals,' Wurtzburger told the New York Post.

"They're showing a bucket that's overflowing with chicken. You get half a bucket! That's false advertising, and it doesn't feed the whole family. They're small pieces!"

KFC is planning on asking the courts to dismiss this lawsuit.
