UPDATE: Waterloo Police confirm the driver a Dodge Durango was arrested Saturday for driving without a valid license.

According to a police report, Shelwin Pedro, 37, ran a stop sign at Hammond and Williston around 2:00 p.m. Saturday, and he crashed into the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Waterloo Police, Firefighters, and first responders all arrived to check on the driver and children in the vehicle.

The front of the Dodge Durango was crumpled and the driver's side of the Hyundai Santa Fe was smashed, with the side-curtain aribags exposed.

Waterloo Police say after first responders checked everyone for injuries, they realized nobody needed to go to the hospital.

After digging into court records, it appears Pedro was cited for drunk driving back in 2010.
