CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The election is just 18 days away and more than 3 million people have already voted nationwide.

In Iowa, more than 235,000 have already cast their ballots.

Many early voters told us they wanted to avoid election day lines or just get it over with.

"Feels good to cast that ballet," says Karen Wennekamp of Marion.

At Hillary Clinton's campaign office in Cedar Rapids, volunteers are continuing to encourage voters to get to the polls.

We were not allowed to shoot video inside, but Donald Trump also has a campaign office set up in Cedar Rapids.

As of Thursday around 38,000 more democrats in Iowa had voted early than republicans, add 92-year-old Robert Harold Clark to that list.

"When I get done here I'm gonna go down and do my voting and then I might go stop off and fish a little bit," Clark told us outside of Clinton's campaign office.

One voter telling us voting early is easier to fit into her schedule.

"You just go in, give a little bit of information you get your ballot, fill it out and poof you're done," says Michelle Pizzey of Cedar Rapids.

"Your vote matters, get out there," she added.

There are ballots out there that have not yet been turned in, the Linn County Auditor's office reminding people to get those in as we inch closer and closer to election day.
