I'm Rick Coleman with UNI head football coach Mark Farley, the Panthers are coming off a tough loss at Youngstown State...It went down to the final seconds.

It was a defensive struggle, a hard hitting battle it was a great football game..

Coach Farley: It was a physical battle, a war I knew it was going to be as they all are with Youngstown State and we were ahead 10-0 all the way into the fourth quarter...and then they put a couple of drives together and we couldn't in the second half.

Rick: And your defense did a lot of outstanding things for you--forcing three turnovers including two that led to scores.

Coach Farley: That was critical Duncan Ferch's interception that he returned for a touchdown--two turnovers in the first half that l;ed to ten points and another interception in the second half.

Rick: And the offense wasn't on the field long enough they held the ball for 35 minutes--and that turned out to be a problem in the 4th quarter--the defense was on the field too long.

Coach Farley: It was what you saw the wear and tear in the 4th quarter because the defense was on the field too long...and they were big 350 pound offensive lineman--when you go out there taking on double teams--there is wear and tear.

Rick Coming home to face Missouri State a Dave Steckel coached team and there seems to be a lot of improvement since he has been there.

Coach Farley---He is in second season and you can see the improvement in the players--you can see how they run the football another quality team--this league is loaded with good coaches--good players another quality opponent. Another competitive day.

Rick And like you said it is all ahead of you going into the game 1-2 in the MVFC...and you face a lot of great teams down the line that you can leap frog in the standings if you take care of business

Coach Farley This isn't over by a long shot--SDSU did us all a favor by beating NDSU at NDSU. SDSU, NDSU and Western Illinois which are ahead of us are all on our schedule and two of them are at home--we just need to wake up and start making plays when we need to.

Rick Four losses each by one score what can this team do moving forward to get over that hump...

Coach Farley: One we can't shoot ourselves in the foot. It becomes very magnified when the games are so close and you make a mistake make a penalty--And you have to win all three phases--you have to win on special teams--can't give up big returns --you have to score in the red zone and you can't give up touchdowns in the redzone--right now a field goal is the difference in these games.

Rick : Health of the team right now...

Coach Farley..that's the great news Bryce Sweeney has been out all season he has been the weight room ready to come back at the end of the season..Griffen Gaeta is back off his foot injury he will be available this weekend--Jackson Scott Brown is back and healthy again he is playing fulltime..

Rick Go get them coach...

Mark Thank You
