IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An eastern Iowa auto company announces it will cut hundreds of jobs by the end of the year.

International Automotive Components in Iowa City says it will reduce its workforce down to 160 positions by the end of 2016.

Company spokesperson David Ladd says the phasing out of the Dodge Dart is mostly to blame for the layoffs, as the Dart is a big producer for the company.

Jeep lines being moved to a plant in Illinois is also playing a factor.

Manufacturing for GM, Chevy, Ford and Hyundai products will continue in Iowa City.
