Overcoming life's challenges.

A coffee shop is getting attention from people around the country.

They're traveling right here to Iowa to meet the owner.

Emilea Hillman  is known throughout Independence for being the fun, friendly owner of this successful coffee shop.

But getting to where she is today wasn't easy.

Emilea loves waking up early every morning.

"I get up at 5:30," she says.

She then heads into Em's Coffee Shop. She's the owner of this successful business.

"I like to be the boss," Emilea laughs.

Em has a learning disability, and she's owned the successful coffee shop for almost seven years.

Em's success story has caught the attention of politicians and leaders from all over. Emilea also participates in the Special Olympics and is considered a leader in her community

Fun fact, Emily actually doesn't like coffee. She started the business because she loves to meet people.
