Police talked to stabbing suspect hours before attack

Posted: Updated:

One day after a stabbing attack seriously injures two people, police say they were also called to the complex hours before the attack.

Police in Cedar Falls say 28-year-old Adam Jacobsen stabbed two victims multiple times. Jacobsen is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and remains in custody tonight on a million dollar bond.

The attack happened at the University Avenue Studios.

Police say that someone called saying Jacobsen was making suicidal comments, but when police arrived, he told them he was fine and he wasn't going to do anything.

Three hours later, Jacobsen stabbed two people.

The victims are 62-year-old Jeffery Miller and 47-year-old Denice Bennett. They suffered serious and possible life-threatening injuries. All three people involved lived there, but police believe the victims were randomly chosen.

In April and May of this year, Jacobsen allegedly posted several Facebook messages mentioning killing and mental illness. One post saying, "I'm craving murder."

Police officers and crime tape are now gone, however residents of University Avenue Studios are still on edge. They say something like this has never happened here before. It is a scene they will never forget.

Police continue to investigate the details of the stabbing tonight.
