Peosta candidate for House Representative has signs, truck vandalized

Posted: Updated:

Shannon Lundgren, a Republican running to represent District 57 in the Iowa House, woke up Friday morning to find not only a number of her political signs vandalized, but a truck she owns as well.

The incident caused Lundgren to file her second police report this week, after vandals hit her home and truck with a paintball gun earlier this week.

"When it becomes personal, and you're damaging our means of income, and you're in our home or at our home, then we become worried, because that's just not right," she said.

Lundgren and her family run the Trackside Bar and Grill in Peosta, and she doesn't believe she's made enemies in her time there.

"We've been in business here ten years, and we've never had anything like this happen. And so our assumption is it has to do with our campaign, and things are looking good for us, and someone maybe doesn't want us to win," she said.

The Dubuque County Democratic Party Chair, Walt Pregler, also issuing a statement about the incident today:

"On behalf of the Dubuque County Democratic Party I wish to express my disbelief about the vandalism to the property of candidate Shannon Lundgren. Actions like this are reprehensible and not indicative to Dubuque. I ask anyone having knowledge of who did this deed, to report it to the police so they can be brought to justice. We in the Democratic party have always encouraged clean and progressive campaigning, focusing on the issues, not on negativity."

Lundgren says they aren't blaming any party or anyone in particular, she just wants whoever did it brought to justice.

That's why she's offering a $500 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.

Meanwhile, the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says they have no leads so far on who might have done this.

Lundgren says if you have signs that were damaged, you can pick up new ones at the Dubuque County GOP office in Dubuque.
