PREVIEW: Cubs look for first World Series berth since 1945

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Chicago Cubs look to continue their run to their first World Series appearance in more than 70 years when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night in game 1 of a best of 7 series.

The teams met seven times this year, with the Cubs winning four of them.

But the prolific bats of the North Siders didn't fare too well against the Dodgers, as they only hit .199 with a .592 OPS in those games.  They were also shut out twice.

Left-handed pitching could swing this series, as the Dodgers hit a league worst .214 against lefties and had a .623 OPS.

Meanwhile, the Cubs .807 OPS ranked second.  John Lester is the Cubs lone left handed pitcher, while they can turn to Travis Wood, Mike Montgomery and Aroldis Chapman for left handed arms in the bullpen.

Games 1 and 2 are in Chicago this weekend, with first pitch of Saturday night's game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Game 2, also at Wrigley, is set for 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

KWWL will be at that game with a group of Eastern Iowa Cub fans.
