Iowa sheriff's deputies prepare for pipeline protests

Posted: Updated:

Protests along the Dakota Access Pipeline construction route could drive up costs for an Iowa sheriff's office.

Calhoun County is the latest to get ready to pay deputies additional overtime. Protesters say they will attempt to stop construction on the pipeline this weekend in Calhoun County.

The sheriff says he feels caught in the middle of the fight between developers and his neighbors.

Police have already arrested more than 100 protesters along the pipeline route in Iowa.
