CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

After three weeks, the NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids has reopened.

NewBo City Market houses 24 different unique vendors and was made to evacuate looming the 2016 flooding.

The market was left dry but before it couldn't reopen all businesses had to undergo inspections.

Today, those vendors able to get back to work.

"We feel fortunate there wasn't a flood. Potentially we were looking at not being here for a month, or two months, or three months," Roc Kemmerer, manager of Maggie's Farm Wood-Fired Pizza said.

He said that the time wasn't a total loss. Their catering portion was able to keep operating.

Other businesses weren't so lucky. Kate Behm, owner of Sweetopia, started her day from scratch.

"We weren't able to salvage any of our products at all," she said.

In it's first day back open, the NewBo City Market was flooded with customers out showing support to the small businesses. Something that is important to Cody Robinson, who spent his lunch break at the market.

"It's a good thing ya know. It keeps the community up and rising. Puts income into the city. It's a good cause," Robinson said.
