Posted: Updated:

Video surveillance shows a man robbing La Placita Mexican Store in downtown Waterloo at gunpoint. Waterloo police are asking for your help in identifying the suspect.

The robbery happened Sunday afternoon.

Waterloo Police say a man walked in with a gun, demanding money from a young woman behind the cash register. He was able to take off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Employee Rosa Carrillo says, "The owner came running out but instead of trying to argue or fight with him, because he had a gun pointed at him, he just threw some money at him."

Carrillo says her coworkers are shaken up. She says her family has owned the place for ten years and something like this has never happened before.

There were multiple people inside the store at the time, but thankfully no one got hurt.

Police releasing video surveillance today asking  if you have any information, to please give police or Cedar Valley CrimeStoppers a call. A cash reward is available.
