CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Peter Kostelnick, originally of Boone, Iowa, is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time running across the country.

Starting in San Francisco and ending in New York City, Kostelnick has to finish the trek in under 46 days and eight hours. He plans to complete the task in just 44 days by running an average of 70 miles a day.

He has now made it through the majority of his home state and today, Kostelnick wrapped up day 29 of his quest in Cedar Rapids where he'll stay the night in his "Pete's Feet Across America" RV in the parking lot of Kingston Stadium.

"It's great to be back in Iowa. It was a little rough out West with the elevation so really doubly being able to breathe better and then to see some friendly faces so it's been really good these last few days," he said.
