Clown prank almost deadly for teen boys

A clown prank could have turned deadly for three teenage boys in New Mexico.

The teens were wearing masks and carrying what looked like a real gun Sunday when they approached an employee outside a 'Babies R Us' store in Albuquerque.

When officers arrived at the store, the teens ripped their masks off and ran.

Police caught up with them and discovered an airsoft pistol, which resembles a BB gun,

"I discovered it was two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old," said Simon Drobik, Albuquerque P.D. "In a split second decision, as an officer or a citizen, if you see this pointed in your direction, you're going to think it's a real gun."

The teens were not arrested or charged.

Police say they were high on marijuana and never raised the gun at anyone.
