UPDATE: UNI student drowning death ruled an accident
The Johnson County Sheriff says it seems a UNI student who drowned in the Iowa River in September likely died by accident.
The Johnson County Medical Examiner finished an autopsy for 20-year-old Nathan Twedt, and found alcohol was a contributing factor in the young man's death.
Witnesses told investigators Twedt seemed very drunk the night he was last seen. Investigators say he was last seen in the University of Iowa Recreation building; he got in the building through an alarmed door and was seen on surveillance video running towards an exit.
A witness claims to have seen Twedt go into the river. Twedt was alone at the time, and investigators don't think any foul play was involved.
Leslie Hospitality owner Edwin Leslie says he doesn't have anything to hide, and to prove it he invited the public to view all of the documents, emails, agreements, and financial statements related to the deal at a public meeting this morning.
