Posted: Updated:

The Bureau pf Land Management will offer around 40 wild horses and possibly a few yearling and burro for adoption, ranging up to five-years-old. On October 21 and 22, people interested can go to the Pullin-Simonsen Arena at 257 Ansborough Avenue in Waterloo.

Adopters have to be at least 18, and provide an enclosed facility with access to food, water and shelter for the horse. Corrals must be 20' by 20' and 6' high for adult horses.

The adoption rate is $125 for animals less than three years of age. A second animal can be adopted for $25. Animals older than three years are also $25. All animals have been seen by a veterinarian, vaccinated, de-wormed, and blood-tested.

You must submit an application in order to adopt. You can call 1-866-468-7826 for more information or go to www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov
