UPDATE: Name released of victim killed in train collision

UPDATE:  The driver of the pickup who was killed is 44-year-old Scott Blackford, of Marion.

One person is dead after a train collides with a pickup truck, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office. 

They say it happened at the intersection of Arabian Road and Canadian National Railroad tracks around 2 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived to the scene they found a pickup, towing a flatbed trailer (loaded with a skid steer) driven by a 44-year-old man from Marion was westbound on Arabian Road when it drove into the path of a northbound Canadian National freight train.

The truck caught on fire from the impact and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver is being withheld at this time.

The accident is under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
