AMES, Ia. — Iowa State's Hall of Fame football player Troy Davis was arrested early Sunday morning, hours after he was honored for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame during Saturday's game.

Iowa State University Police tells KWWL that 41-year-old Davis was arrested and charged with public intoxication around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Chamberlain Street in Ames.

Davis was taken to Story County Jail, where he was being held on a $300 bond.

Davis set numerous records at Iowa State, and was a two-time consensus All-American in 1995 and 1996. He was even the runner-up in the Heisman Trophy ballot in 1996. He also is the only Division I player in NCAA history to run for more than 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

Davis will be inducted into college football Hall of Fame in December.
