Flood debris being accepted in Marion

Posted: Updated:
MARION (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency announces it is ready to accept flooding debris for disposal and recycling as recovery efforts from flooding throughout the region begin.

The agency, which is located at 1954 County Home Road in Marion, will be open under its regular hours from 7 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. through Saturday. Hours could also be extended, which would be announced on the agency's website

The agency says it will accept items including flood-impacted sandbags, drywall, carpets and furniture -- much of which will be directed to landfill. Items to keep separated for disposal include hazardous household materials containing chemicals, appliances, televisions, computer monitors and tires.

Regular disposal fees will still apply at this time, and lines are expected throughout the week. This visual guide has more information.

Updates on the disposal are also available on the agency's Facebook and Twitter pages.
