UPDATE: Identity of 13-year-old girl shot and killed in Cedar Rapids

UPDATE: The 13-year-old girl who died from a gunshot wound to the head yesterday in Cedar Rapids has been identified as Ireshia Parks, according to Cedar Rapids police. She was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center.

The three suspects taken into custody include two minors and a young adult. A 13-year-old has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Carrying Weapons, and Interference with Official Acts. A 15- year-old boy has been charged with Interference with Official Acts. Finally, 18-year-old Dquon Morrow has been charged with Interference with Official Acts.

Police say the investigation continues.

UPDATE: According to Cedar Rapids Police, the 13-year-old girl who was shot in the head this morning has died from her injuries after she was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. 

The three male suspects in custody include two juveniles and a young adult. 

Police believe that all the suspects involved in the shooting are in custody and that there is no present danger to the public. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

UPDATE: Three suspects now in custody following shooting in southeast side of Cedar Rapids. 

Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a shooting on the city's southeast side this morning. Police say a woman was shot in the head.

It happened in the 800 block of 15th Street SE.

Cedar Rapids Police say the woman is suffering life-threatening injuries and was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

When police arrived, witnesses said three men were running in a nearby alley between 15th and 16th street SE. 

Three people are now in custody. Police believe these are the only suspects involved at this time.

Officers used a canine and were able to catch two of the suspects in the 1500 block of Bever. Moments later, the third suspect was caught in the 1500 block of Washington. 

The three suspects were in custody within 10 minutes of the call being received. 

Police are investigating a vehicle on scene for evidence.
