Shellsburg man found guilty of manslaughter

A Shellsburg man was convicted of manslaughter today in the death of a 25-year-old woman.

After deliberating for two days, the jury found David Miller guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the death of Sabrina Hustad-Janish.

Hustad-Janish was stabbed multiple times and strangled on October 25, 2015.

She was found next to a stolen truck in Shellsburg.

Miller was charged with First Degree Murder and 2 counts of theft.

The jury dropped the charge to Voluntary Manslaughter and found Miller guilty of the 2 counts of 2nd Degree Theft.

The Voluntary Manslaughter charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

The sentencing is expected to take place in December.
