New campaign finance reports show Hillary Clinton is vastly outspending her opponent Donald Trump.

Last month, Clinton spent $50 million to Trump's $30 million, but she has not been able to pull away from him in the race for the White House.

While both candidates are raising huge sums from donors, their lopsided spending highlights the difference in their approach to campaigning.

Clinton is running a conventional operation featuring ad buys and robust voter outreach. Trump, the political novice, has kept spending down by enjoying seemingly limitless free media coverage and outsourcing voter contact duties to the Republican Party.

The spending disparity has also become a favored Trump boast.

"If you can spend less and be winning, that's a positive thing, right?" Trump said Tuesday in North Carolina."
