Cheney, WA (KWWL) -

Eastern Washington rallied from a 17 point deficit and used a fake field goal in the final minute to send UNI to a heartbreaking 34-30 loss.

The Panthers owned the first 30 minutes as a pair of Aaron Bailey touchdown runs helped UNI to a 24-7 halftime lead. Things already started to deteriorate in the first 12 seconds of the second half as Antoine Custer Jr. returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a score. It was the first of 21 straight points that would put the Eagles ahead 28-24 in the 4th quarter.

A pair of Matt Easley field goals, including a career long make of 49 yards, gave UNI a 30-28 lead with under five minutes remaining. Eastern Washington, however, drove to the Panther 23 yard line and appeared to set up for a 40 yard field goal attempt. Instead, EWU quarterback Reilly Hennessey, in the game as the holder, fired a pass over the UNI defenders and to tight end Beau Byus for the game winning touchdown with 43 seconds remaining in the game.
