High school football players join protest

ROCKFORD, Illinois (KWWL) -

Some high school football players are now joining a protest started by an NFL quarterback.

Cameras show them kneeling during the national anthem before their football game in Rockford, Illinois last week.

San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick has been doing this and now, some other NFL players have joined him. They're protesting a number of issues, including racial oppression.

The head coach of the high school team in Illinois says he's not happy football is being used as a platform for this protest, but respects the passion the kids have. The school district says what the students did does not violate any of its policies.
