A 17-year-old is facing murder charges after police say he shot and killed his parents after they tried to discipline him for throwing a house party.

Jesse Madison Holton, of Eclectic, Alabama, is accused of gunning down his father Mike Holton, a former mayor of the town who died in their home on Sunday from a gunshot wound to the head.

The teenager will face additional charges after his mother April also suffered a head wound and died in the hospital on Monday, police said.

Mike and April, both 37, returned home on Sunday to find evidence of a marijuana pipe in their home, which had been trashed from a party the night before, authorities said.

According to the town Sheriff, the parents have had problems with Jesse in the past. Mike told the deputy on scene that he would sign a juvenile warrant against his son the next day and the deputy left on another call.

About 20 minutes later, Jesse appeared at his neighbor's house saying his parents were fighting.

The same deputy returned to the Holtons' home to find Mike dead in the master bedroom, where a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered.  April, who was also found on the bedroom floor near death, was put on life-support in the hospital, where she died on Monday evening.
