Former Cedar Falls teacher sentenced for stealing student medication

A former Cedar Falls teacher was sentenced Monday for stealing students' prescription medication at Holmes Junior High in February.

According to the Black Hawk County Clerk of Court, Doug Wilkinson was sentenced to 10 days in jail -- on five counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Wilkinson must serve the 10 days in jail by Nov. 30, and is also on probation for one to two years.

In addition to jail time, Wilkinson faces a fine of $315 on each count of unlawful possession, as well as, a $125 law enforcement surcharge on each count.
