Posted: Updated:

A fiery scene at a brand new house -- caused by an explosion.

The roof destroyed and debris everywhere.

The Jo Daviess Sheriff's Office says it happened Monday night in the Apple Canyon Lake community. Even neighbors who live on the other side of the lake say they heard the explosion. One of them called 911.

Management of the private community offering some details. "We did get a call last night around 9 o'clock that there was an explosion on Cottonwood...it is a new home," said Cynthia Carton, Communication Director of Apple Canyon Lake Property Owners Association.

A new home, now melted and burned. It's not clear whether the owners had even moved in yet.

People in the area don't think they were present at the time of the explosion. "We have a lot of weekenders out here, and there was nobody at the home that we know, there were no cars in the garage," Carton said.

Still, a lot of unanswered questions as authorities continue to investigate.

No one was hurt in the explosion.
