UPDATE: Crash at N.W. Arterial and Plaza Drive in Dubuque

UPDATE: The Dubuque Police Department says three people were hurt in the accident this morning.

The tractor-trailer was driven by Michael Wood, a 70-year-old man from Yuma, Arizona. Police say Wood entered the intersection of N.W. Arterial and Plaza Drive going northbound, when his tractor-trailer collided nearly head-on with a car driven by 78-year-old David McGhee, of Asbury. Asbury was turning left at the time of the collision. Both men and a passenger in McGhee's car, 80-year-old Alice McGhee of Asbury, were injured in the accident. The crash happened around 10:13 a.m. this morning.

Police say all three people had to be airlifted University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, and their conditions are unknown at this time. The Department also says the extend road closure was due to heavy equipment and traffic control signals needing repair following the collision. 

ORIGINAL STORY: There is a crash at the corner of the Northwest Arterial and Plaza Drive in Dubuque. The north bound lanes of the arterial will be closed at Asbury Road.

Police say drivers should avoid the area.
