DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

People all around the country are remembering the lives tragically lost on this day 15-years ago.

The Dubuque Fire Department held a ceremony this morning at the 9/11 memorial.

A bell was rung to recognize the first responders who died that day.

"We wanted to make sure there was something appropriate for the day. We did it at 8:58 a.m. this morning which coincides with the collapse of the first tower that day. So the timing was kind of significant as well," said Rick Steines, chief of Dubuque Fire Department.

The Faith Temple United Pentecostal Church in Dubuque also held a special service today, praying for the victims.
