Police identify body in Iowa River as UNI student

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Police have identified a body pulled from the Iowa River Saturday evening as a 20-year-old University of Northern Iowa student.

The victim was Nathan Twedt, of the Marion area, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office sent Sunday afternoon.

According to a release sent yesterday, Twedt's body was pulled from the Iowa River near the Benton Street bridge Saturday evening in Iowa City.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to UNI Interim President Jim Wohlpart, "it is with tremendous sadness that I share with you the loss of a member of the Panther family."
