There are fewer Americans with Down Syndrome than previously thought

Posted: Updated:

There are fewer Americans with Down Syndrome than previously thought. This according to researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital. They used a larger and more accurate database to track down syndrome rates over the past 60 years. They found about 206,000 people had the condition is 2010. This is far less than estimates. It's still a significant increase from 50,000 people in 1950. New surgeries have increased the life expectancy of Down Syndrome patients.
