The Iowa Hawkeyes cruised to a 45-21 victory over Miami of Ohio in the season opener.

The Hawkeye defense was a little leaky on the back end--giving up some big plays in the passing game to the Red hawks.

Iowa State struggled to run the ball against UNI and had most of its offensive success against the panthers thru the air.

Cyclone quarterback Joel Lanning threw three touchdown passes---and Alan Lazard caught 6 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown... Hawkeye all-American Desmond King who will go one on one with Lazard Saturday--says the Hawks must tighten things up this week.

King said, "Passing wise we gave up a lot of big plays that's something that we preach about in the defensive meetings is how many big plays we give up we ant to prevent giving up more than two big plays because the more big plays we give up the more points they get so we that is something we have to do this game."

The Cy-Hawk Game is Saturday at 6:30 pm at Kinnick.
