Governor Branstad weighs in on pipeline controversy

(KWWL) -

An Iowa group says Governor Branstad is working on behalf of the Bakken oil pipeline.

They questioned campaign donations the governor received from Texas oil executives back in 2010. Branstad responded saying he's taken a lot more donations from renewable fuel leaders.

The governor also says congress is creating uncertainty in the ethanol industry and that's hurting Iowa's economy.

:That's because of what the EPA did to the price of corn because they have not maintained the robust renewable fuels standard and we got a large crop out there," said Governor Branstad. "The price of corn, now this is the third year in a row, we had good prices up until the fall of 2013."

He called the Iowa Utilities Board's decision process reasonable and fair.
