Residents of Waterloo setting up for the 15th anniversary for 9/11. They're holding the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. Volunteers will provide clean up services, joining other Americans across the country.

Volunteers are invited to join members of First Presbyterian Church, Harvest Vineyard Church, and the Walnut Neighborhood Association as they pick up litter from sidewalks, vacant lots, and streets.

Meetings start at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 11. Teams will be assigned to spread across the neighborhood. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.

The event launched in 2002 by the nonprofit 9/11 Day with other support. People of all ages across the country will help remembering victims by cleaning up areas, delivering meals, refurbishing schools and community centers, collecting food and clothing, reading to children, and more.

The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley says to call (319) 272-2087 or e-mail information@vccv.org for more information.
